Oxford senior Zac Barber was named Region 2-5A Most Valuable Player over the weekend by region coaches. Barber led the Chargers to the 5A North Half title series against Ridgeland as well as a 19-12 win.
He finished the year with a .371 average, tops on the team, nine home runs, 39 RBIs and was 5-2 with a save on the mound. Joining Barber on this year’s team were teammates Hunt Halford, Luke Gibbs, Shae Mnichowski, William Elliott and Henry Webb. New Hope was represented by Kameron Bryan, Taylor Stafford, Jarded Shelton and Landon Boyd. West Point was represented by Edward Cox, Leroy Calvert, Tommy Keys and Dalentez Lane. Saltillo’s Cosby Repult, Kyle Young and Tyler Willis rounded out the team. (May 31, 2011, Page 10)
