Provoking a team with as much fight and talent as the Lafayette Commodores have before a critical baseball game isn’t the most advisable thing for a team to do.
One night after North Pontotoc defeated LHS 6-5 in the first game of the MHSAA Class 4A playoff second-round series, the Commodores paid the Vikings back in the form of a 5-2 win at W.V. Brewer Field on Saturday night. The third, and decisive game, of the series will be played tonight, weather permitting.
LHS (23-6 overall) was already motivated to win the second game after losing two leads in the opener, but the Vikings (21-5) only made those emotions worse prior to the contest when they gathered in center field to show how little they thought of Lafayette’s baseball tradition.
