Wilder has made impact for Chargers

Tennis has been more than a sport for Oxford High’s Zach Wilder, it’s been a way of life since he can remember. As the son of a successful collegiate tennis player who has competed against some of the best players in the region and been cradled by some top instructors over the years, tennis has helped define Wilder’s past, present and future.

His drive to be the best player on the court is second to none, while the loyalty to his fellow Chargers has made him an ideal teammate for a group that is preparing to win a fourth state title in four seasons. As good as Wilder’s present status is, his future also appears to be bright as he continues to shine in various junior tournaments and prepare for a college career as an Ole Miss Rebel.

Wilder wasn’t exactly sure if he was ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in the state currently in his age group, but he was sure about his roots in tennis and when he age he was when he realized how much hard work it was going to take to try and be the best. (April 21, 2011, Page 6)
