Given his first real chance, Jordan Poole didn’t disappoint.
After receiving five plate appearances through the first 30 games of the season, Poole, a freshman outfielder from Calhoun, Ga., was awarded his first start of the season on Friday against Georgia and made head coach Mike Bianco look like a smart guy.
Poole had gone 1-for-4 with a walk and three strikeouts in his previous appearances, but on Friday the right fielder went 2-for-4 including a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning that brought the Rebels to within one run of the Bulldogs. (April 11, 2011, Page 1B)
