Oxford fares well at OMS Invitational

Oxford’s middle school boys track team continued to shine Thursday at the annual OMS Track Invitational held at Bobby Holcomb Field. Six other schools competed against Oxford in the event, including Grenada, Pontotoc, New Albany, Senatobia, Hills Chapel, Marietta School and Guntown. The Chargers won the meet followed by Grenada.
First-place winners for Oxford in the field events included: Michael McGee in the shot and discus and D.K. Hutchins in the long jump. Collen Lei finished third in the shot, K.T. McCollum was third in the high jump and third in the triple jump, D.K. Metcalf was fourth in the long jump, while B.J. Carothers was fifth in the triple.

Pruett Griffin finished second in the 3,200 meter run, while Ivan Lopez was fourth in the event. (April 1, 2011, Page 8A)
