NCAA grants Lockett a sixth season

The phone call Ole Miss senior defensive end Kentrell Lockett had been waiting months to receive finally came Thursday afternoon. After losing out on his senior season by tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the third game last season, Lockett was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA on Thursday to the delight of the Hahnville, La., native and head football coach Houston Nutt.

Lockett is known for his candor, passion and outgoing nature, but even he didn’t get too excited about the news at first because he was unclear if it was really true. (April 1, 2011, Page 6A)
