Lewisburg tops Lafayette in baseball

Despite another great pitching effort from Jarrett Patton, the Lafayette Commodores were unable to defeat Lewisburg on Tuesday. Lewisburg got its own solid pitching effort from Tanner Densford to beat Lafayette 3-0. Patton finished with six strikeouts and no walks and only allowed five hits in the loss. One of the hits, a double, helped fuel a two-run third inning for the Patriots, who are in sole possession of first place in the division standings. The Commodores fell victim to two double plays in the game and two pickoffs from Densford to thwart potential scoring chances. The two teams will meet again Thursday at W.V. Brewer Field at 7 p.m. (April 13, 2011, Page 10)
