Lear leads Oxford past West Point on the road

Oxford’s James Lear recorded his fourth straight complete game effort to help lead the Chargers to an 8-1 win over West Point on Thursday night.
Lear only allowed two bloop singles in the third inning, the lone frame that West Point scored, and five hits overall. OHS coach Chris Baughman said Lear had all three of his pitches working and that his performance was his best since he pitched against Center Hill in the Oxford Spring Break Tournament.

The Chargers (11-7 overall, 4-2 in Region 2-5A) never trailed in the contest as they scored five runs in the top of the second inning. (April 8, 2011, Page 6A)
