One week after winning a Class 4A playoff series on a dramatic play at the plate, the Lafayette Commodores find themselves locked up in another battle against a strong North Pontotoc team.
Lafayette’s second best-of-three series begins Friday in Ecru at 7. Saturday’s second game will be at LHS and also begin at 7, while a third game would be played back at North Pontotoc (20-4 overall).
The Vikings won Division 1-4A this past season and have an impressive set of stats. North Pontotoc is hitting .336 as a team, with almost every starter hitting above .314. North Pontotoc has also done a good job pitching as the team ERA is 1.16. Friday night’s expected starter, Kyle Robbins, sports a 0.62 ERA and has 82 strikeouts in 45.2 innings.
