The Commodores lost a tight match, 5-2, to Grenada at home on Thursday. All the doubles matches were close for the Commodores, who fell to 8-4 overall. Two of the matches involved a tiebreaker, while another was a 7-5, 7-5 setback. Lafayette’s two wins came from the No. 1 girls doubles team of Mallory Davis and Lauren Cullen, who topped Leigh Ann Hunt and Cassie Bennett 6-1, 6-1 and the No. 2 girls doubles team of Kathryn Owen and Brittany Mann, who beat Sarah Kate Griffin and Danielle Brasher 6-4, 6-7 (10-6).
In singles play, Grenada’s Brennan Basinger beat Garret Reed 6-2, 6-2, while Alexandria Brasher topped Abbey Pate 6-2, 6-1. At No. 1 boys doubles, Grenada’s Thomas Braswell and Hunter Boxx blanked Tyler Odom and T.J. Hollis 6-0, 6-0. The No. 2 boys doubles team of Winston Lee and Guy Braswell beat Hunter Knight and Jacob Roberts 6-0, 3-6 (11-9), while the mixed doubles team of Taylor Holland and Chance Holland topped Barron Pruitt and Sarah Cox 7-5 7-5.
