Errors, mistakes doom Rebels in loss to USM

In the ultimate game of back-and-forth, Adam Doleac’s two-run single through the left side of the infield in the top of the 12th inning ended up being the difference as the Southern Miss Golden Eagles defeated Ole Miss 8-6 at Trustmark Park late Tuesday evening.
It’s tough to pinpoint exactly what went wrong for the Rebels (20-14 overall), who have lost seven of their last nine games, because frankly there’s numerous areas to point to.

For starters, the Rebels committed four errors.

Ole Miss’ seven pitchers also combined to walk 13 batters, four of which scored.

Southern Miss (24-8) also surrendered four errors, but the difference was the Golden Eagles’ ability to get the go-ahead hit that evaded the Rebels all night. (April 13, 2011, Page 8)
