Charger golfers qualify for state

Led by medalist Turner Arnold, the Oxford boys golf team qualified for the Class 5A state tournament on Monday at the Division 1-5A golf tournament. The meet was held at Hernando Hills Golf Club in Olive Branch. Only nine holes were recorded as the meet was shortened due to weather conditions that made the course unplayable.

Oxford shot a 177 to finish second out of six teams in the tournament. New Hope won the overall division title with a 170. Hernando also qualified for the state tournament by finishing third with a 182. Lake Cormorant (203), Saltillio (219) and West Point (228) rounded out the other teams in the field. (April 26, 2011, Page 6)
