Blue Devils’ offense, errors doom Chargers

Errors ended up preventing the Oxford Chargers from earning a clean sweep in a baseball twinbill at W.V. Brewer Field on Saturday afternoon. After defeating the Lafayette Commodores 6-4 in the first game of the day, the Chargers fell 14-6 to the Water Valley Blue Devils to conclude the day 1-1.
OHS (9-7 overall) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings but could never recover after giving up five runs in the fifth inning. OHS starter Dustin Williams gave up three of the four hits collected by the Blue Devils (9-7) in the frame, but four errors prevented the Chargers from minimizing the damage. (April 4, 2011, Page 7A)
