Oxford tennis keeps on rolling

The Chargers tennis squad made short work of New Hope on Tuesday at Avent Park as they cruised to a 7-0 win to improve to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Division 1-5A play. Zach Wilder continued to display his individual skills as he defeated Ricky Lee 6-0, 6-0 in boys singles. Ann Marie Edlin also made short work of her girls singles opponent, Hannah Bateman, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play, Baxter Elliott and Robert Nance teamed up to defeat Tyler Warnat and Zac Thrasher 5-7, 6-2 (10-3) at No. 1 boys doubles.

Will Swindoll and Quinn Elliott beat Austin Oswalt and Kale Martin 6-0, 6-1 at the other boys doubles position. Mary Bryan Barksdale and Sterling Davis won their No. 1 girls doubles match, 6-1, 6-0, over Mary Swain and Lindsey Rice, while Kara Rose and Embrey Inman beat Natalie Dunser and Laura Oberbuscher 6-0, 6-0 at the other girls doubles spot.  Erin Dyer and Andrew Mullen rounded out the victory for the Chargers with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Michael Brocksmith and Audrey Moeckel in mixed doubles. In junior varsity action, Oxford won three matches. Sam Peeler and Cole Atkins beat Draden Meggs and Kevin Jasko 6-0, 6-0; Gus Morgan and Matt Forgette downed Matthew Ferguson and David Newton 6-0, 6-0, while Liam Cooper defeated Michael Brocksmith 8-0.
