Oxford JV tennis falls to New Albany

A visit from New Albany Monday at Avent Park didn’t turn out to be a positive for the Oxford JV tennis team. New Albany topped the Chargers 4-2 in matches, including three of four doubles matches. Callan Shinall earned the victory for the Chargers in boys singles, 6-3, 6-6 (7-2) over Dylan Mills. The other victory for the Chargers came from the No. 1 girls doubles team of Sarah Nash and McClellan Davis, who topped Whitney Littlejohn and Hanah Anderson 4-6, 7-5 (10-8). New Albany’s singles win came from Elleigh Hall, who topped Emily Morgan 6-1, 6-3. At No. 1 boys doubles, Chris Scott and Christian Scott beat Oxford’s Sam Peeler and Cole Atkins 4-6, 6-1 (10-6).

The No. 2 boys doubles team of Trey Fooshe and Bramlett Robbins defeated Liam Cooper and Gus Morgan 6-4, 6-3.

The No. 2 girls doubles team of Hannah Fennell and Darby Mills defeated Madison Cobb and Ellie Devoe 6-4, 6-4. Oxford’s JV will be back in action Wednesday against Lafayette at Avent Park. (March 8, 2011, Page 8)
