Oxford’s most competitive tennis match in several seasons came Saturday against Ocean Springs. In a match that came down to the wire and was decided by doubles play, the Chargers edged the Greyhounds 4-3. Oxford’s winning streak now stands at 115 matches, while the Chargers are 8-0 on the year heading into Tuesday’s match with Lafayette at Avent Park.
The Chargers won three of four in doubles to gain the victory over Ocean Springs, who appeared to be the only team that could end Oxford’s winning streak during the preseason. (March 28, 2011, Page 2B)
