Local players help Rangers earn sweep

Former Water Valley standout Tank Hervey helped lead the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers to a sweep of Mississippi Delta Wednesday in Senatobia. Hervey earned the win on the mound in the first game of the doubleheader, a 9-2 win, by logging 5.1 innings of work.

Hervey finished with eight walks, but he did strike out five and only gave up two hits. He is now 2-1 on the year.

Former LHS standout Luke McCullough had a hit and drew a walk in the victory. The Rangers then defeated MDCC 7-4 in the second game of the doubleheader. Former WVHS star Josh Johnson had a hit and drove in a run playing shortstop for the Rangers. NWCC (10-7) will continue North Division play this weekend at Holmes. (March 17, 2011, Page 8)
