The Lafayette Middle School baseball Commodores swept Water Valley on the road Thursday, claiming Game 1 11-1 and Game 2 3-0.Austin Arrington earned the Game 1 win for Lafayette, striking out eight in 5.0 innings, to improve to 2-0 on the year.
Lafayette combined for 10 hits in with Hunter Bishop driving in two runs and Tyler Smith tallying a team-high two hits.
In Game 2, Jacob McPhail pitched a three-inning no hitter in the shutout while striking out four and walking three. He also had a triple at the plate. Cameron Crawford contributed two hits in the win.
Next up for LMS (5-1 overall) is a home meeting with Marshall Academy on March 21. (March 11, 2011, Page 8A)
