Lafayette tennis’ most complete effort of the season resulted in its most impressive tennis win to date Thursday against Center Hill at the Oxford-University Stadium courts. The Commodores’ 7-0 win not only improved them to 4-1 on the year, but it gave them confidence going into Monday’s meeting with Tupelo. Mallory Davis led Lafayette’s effort with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Bree Starnes in girls singles. In boys singles, Garrett Reed beat Daniel Murdoch 6-1, 6-3. The No. 1 boys doubles team of Hunter Knight and Jacob Roberts defeated Justin Bennett and Hayden Nichols 6-3, 6-1. Barron Pruitt and T.J. Hollis had no trouble defeating Jon Phillips and Benton Stacks 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 girls doubles, Ashley Smith and Lauren Cullen downed Madeline Kuluz and Mary Holland Bennett 6-2, 6-2. The No. 2 doubles team of Kathyrn Owen and Abbey Pate rallied from a 6-3 loss in the first set to defeat Bridgette Joyner and Callie Loveless 6-3, 1-0. In mixed doubles, Tyler Odom and Sarah Cox blanked Dalton Turner and Tessa LaBlanc 6-0, 6-0. (March 25, 2011, Page 8A)
