Two runs scored in the top of the eighth inning helped propel Senatobia to a 9-8 win over Lafayette Friday night at LHS.
The Lady Commodores fell behind Senatobia 4-1 in the third and trailed all the way until the bottom of the seventh when they scored four runs to tie the contest. SHS then broke the tie with two runs and held LHS to just one in the bottom half of the frame. SHS collected 16 hits, while four LHS errors also aided its offensive attack.
LHS had 10 hits as a team, while Corey Hollis, Rae Drewery and Avery McCullough each collecting at least two hits. Kendall Glass and Hollis each had home runs in the loss, while M.C. Pate and Kelsey Kesler had a triple and double respectively. LHS will be back in action Tuesday at home against Water Valley starting with a junior varsity game at 5 p.m. (March 28, 2011, Page 2B)
