Lafayette claims season sweep over WVHS

A heartbreaking one-run loss to Senatobia last Friday night is something the Lafayette Lady Commodores didn’t allow to linger  on Tuesday against the Water Valley Blue Devils. Instead of playing flat and unfocused, LHS was able to overcome the setback with a 6-3 home win over the Lady Blue Devils to sweep the season series.

Six different players recorded at least one hit in the victory that saw LHS break a 2-2 tie with four runs in the third inning. Toniella Marion led the way with two hits, while Kendall Glass, M.C. Pate, Corey Hollis, Cameron Mize and Katrina Wilson all had hits to back up the pitching of Kelsey Kesler and Mize, who both finished the game with four strikeouts apiece. (March 30, 2011, Page 7)
