Two early season tests ended up being valuable learning experiences for the Lafayette Commodores Thursday night in the Pontotoc Tournament.
Less than a week after LHS got its 2011 season off to a great start with two wins against Saltillo and Nettleton, the Commodores suffered their first setbacks of the season with a 7-3 loss to Mooreville and a 12-11 loss to Belmont.LHS coach Greg Lewis entered the season a bit unsure about how his pitchers would fare this season due to the overall inexperience on the staff. As good as the starters did in the first two wins in the opening weekend, the results were more mixed in Thursday’s two outings. (March 4, 2011, Page 6A)
