Chargers fall to Olive Branch

Despite a seven-run fourth inning, the Oxford High baseball team was unable to overcome a fast start by Olive Branch in a 15-10 loss Tuesday night. The Chargers (1-2) got to within a run of the Conquistadors at 3-2 in the top of the third, but they fell behind by 10 runs after Olive Branch scored nine in the bottom half of the frame. OHS was within 12-10 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but was unable to score the rest of the way as Olive Branch tacked on three more runs. Avery Norris led Oxford with three RBIs on the night, while Hunt Halford added two RBIs. Shae Mnichowski had two singles and an RBI, while Zac Barber and Dustin Williams each had an RBI.

Williams started on the mound for OHS and logged two innings of work.

Oxford will return to action in the Amory Tournament this weeekend. (March 2, 2011, Page 7)
