Led by the speed of Mariah Buford, the Lafayette Lady Commodores finished third as a team in the Oxford Invitational track meet held Saturday at Bobby Holcomb Field. Buford finished first in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter races to help garner 30 of the team’s 100.5 points on the day. She ran the 100 in 12.05 seconds, the 200 in 25.91 and the 400 in 60.47.
Buford was also a member of the 4×400 relay team that finished first with a time of 4 minutes, 21.4 seconds. Making up the team were Janae Westbrook, Manon Mulllen and Megan Norphlet. (March 14, 2011, Page 7)
