Behind bars, an eager audience

Want to play to a crowd hungry for some live music? Try Unit 29 of the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman. Senior staff writer Lucy Schultze sat down to talk with Wayne Irby for what it was like to step behind the bars and play music for inmates at Parchman in this week’s “A Conversation With…”

Irby and fellow musician Bryan Ward are working on a CD project to benefit the Kairos Mississippi prison ministry. They will be recording a CD of music after playing at Parchman the last weekend in April. (March 17, 2011, Page 3)
