Yarbrough lifts OM in 10th

It took late-game heroics both in the field and at the plate by sophomore second baseman Alex Yarbrough, but the Rebs were able to hold off a late Wright State rally to claim a 5-4 victory in 10 innings on Saturday. After WSU tied the game with a four-run eighth, Yarbrough blocked a chopper up the middle and was able to relay the throw home to junior catcher Taylor Hightower in time to gun Corey Davis out at the plate in the top of the 10th. In the bottom of the frame, Yarbrough lifted a slider from pitcher Michael Schum deep into right field to score pinch-runner Eric Sauls without a throw, giving Ole Miss the win. (February 21, 2011, Page 7)
