Rain may have halted Thursday’s Southeastern Conference women’s basketball game momentarily, but it didn’t prevent the Tennessee Lady Volunteers from claiming a 66-39 victory over the Ole Miss Lady Rebels on Thursday at the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.
With Tennessee in cruise-control mode with 5:24 remaining on Ole Miss’ senior night, Ole Miss’ Kenyotta Jenkins slipped at half court while racing back on defense and the game was immediately halted.
A trash can was placed at halfcourt to catch water dripping onto the court from a vent in the roof, towels carpeted the court and after a 20-minute “rain delay,” the game was awarded to Tennessee. (February 25, 2011, Page 6A)
