The Lamar Rifles: Company G, 11th Mississippi Regiment

Columnist and local historian Jack Lamar Mayfield tells us more about the The Lamar Rifles this week — the group of Lafayette County men who made were one of the first local volunteer units to organize.       My Great-grandfather Charles Richard Harris was in the Company G, Lamar Rifles. Does this picture have the names of the men listed?

    2. i have the book Lamar Rifles Co.G 11th Miss.Reg’t. OXFORD,MISS. this is a book written by T.P.Buford for the 1901 reunion at Ben Price’s house in Oxford,Miss. Nov.28th 1901-Thanksgiving Day. the picture shown are the survivors that came to the reunion that year your relative is not in the picture. the book was printed in 1901 and are very rare. T.P.Buford is my great great grandfather and this book has been handed down to me. i just learned that a reprint was made in 2000 and are hard to find also, but i just found a copy on ebay for $40.00 and i believe he has more than one copy. if at all possable i would try to get a copy as it has all the information that is out there. go to ebay and look up lamar rifles and you will find it. good luck warren bruce bunch

      there is no charles richard harris listed in the names of people in the photo. i have learned through family bibles that goodloe warren buford was my great great grandfather and t.p.buford was one of his brothers. there is a nice reprint of the book published in 2000 that is becoming hard to find but there is one listed on ebay if anybody wants one. i am still looking for anybody that has an original copy but so far mine is the only one that i know of.this is a great little book on the civil war and oxford,miss.

    4. Thank you for your information about the Reunion. Ben Price was my Great Grandfather Richard Charles Wesley Harris’s grandson. Ben Price was the son of Washington Price and his mother was Frances Bushrod Price my G ?something aunt. I will look this book up on e-bay.
