Sophomore forward Renardo Sidney may not want to talk with the print media following Mississippi State’s games, but his aversion of discussing his skills in public is not lost on Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy or his Rebels. For the second time this season, Sidney, a Jackson native, was a huge reason why the Bulldogs were able to defeat the Rebels 71-58 on Saturday in front of a crowd of 8,063 at Humphrey Coliseum and an audience watching via the SEC Network.
Sidney turned in his best overall performance of the season for the Bulldogs (14-12 overall, 6-6 SEC) as he scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds in 31 minutes of action. The 6-foot-10 behemoth has been criticized for his lack of conditioning during the season by various media outlets, but his raw ability to score down low and hit the occasional shot from behind the 3-point arc was evident again against the Rebels, who fell to 17-10 and 5-7.
