It was only fitting that on Senior Night, it was the upperclassmen that propelled both the Water Valley boys and girls basketball squads to victories over Winona on Monday.In the girls game, C.C. Phillips and Ashley Phillips helped the Lady Blue Devils cruise to a 67-39 victory over the Lady Tigers, while in the boy’s game, McKendrick Bounds and Matt Dalton played pivotal roles in Water Valley’s 61-57 come-from-behind win.
The Blue Devils could have mailed it in after trailing the Tigers 45-35 to begin the fourth quarter. Instead, the team regrouped, got a couple quick baskets and used a 15-2 run to rally past the Tigers. (February 1, 2011, Page 8)
