Rebels fall to Miss. State 71-58

BLOG — Ole Miss’ momentum heading into Saturday’s game against Mississippi State was short lived as the Bulldogs defeated the Rebels 71-58 at Humphrey Coliseum.Led by a double-double from Renardo Sidney, who did his first interview since his suspension was lifted late last season, the Bulldogs outscored the Rebels 38-25 in the second half to turn a 33-33 game at the half into a one-sided win. Sidney had another outstanding effort against the Rebels as he scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. He had 24 points and five rebounds in the Bulldogs first game with the Rebels in Oxford.

MSU (14-12 overall, 6-6 Southeastern Conference) shot 50 percent from the floor (11-for-22) in the second half, while the Rebels (17-10, 5-7) were just 12-for-36 the final 20 minutes and just 23 of 67 from the floor overall.

Ole Miss’ Chris Warren was just 4-for-14 from the floor and finished with just 13 points, five less than his season average. Zach Graham, who scored 30 points in the Rebels’ win over Auburn this past Wednesday, also shot just 4-for-14 from the floor and was limited to just 12 points.

The Rebels will be back in action at South Carolina on Tuesday night at 6. The game can be seen on ESPU. (February 19, 2011)
