Rebel walk-out songs revealed

(AUDIO) BLOG: Who is going to replace Drew Pomeranz, how are the new bats going to affect the Rebels and where will the Ole Miss baseball team place in the Southeastern Conference?

Sure those are some of the many hot button topics surrounding today’s Opening Day, but what’s everyone REALLY itching to find out? Well, that’s obvious — what are Ole Miss’ walk-out songs. So without further delay, Ole Miss’ walk-out (and warm-up, for the pitchers…) songs are as follows:

In the past, Ole Miss has taken the field to Aerosmith’s Sweet Emotion and the theme from Halloween. This year, the Rebels will take the field to All The Way Turned Up.

(DISCLAIMER: Linked songs are not the edited versions — the versions that will be played at the stadium will be edited. Consider yourself warned.)

36. Austin Hartzog- Duck and Run

Freshman Mike Mayers (pronounced “Myers”) may have the best warmup song. Michael Myers is the “star” of the Halloween movie series, so it only makes sense that this freshman from Grove City, Ohio, would select the title track from the movies as his warmup song.
The head scratcher is “Milkshake” for Weston “No Hit” Hoekel. I mean, wha? If this warmup song is any indication, I’m guessing Weston is redshirting. (Last season, with Jake Morgan on the DL due to Tommy John surgery, his warm-up song was listed as “Fireflies“. I’ll assume Hoekel’s song falls into that category.) But then again, maybe he’s just  a fan of Kelis. Who knows…

Special thanks to Ole Miss marketing coordinator Brandon Hudspeth for the list. (February 18, 2011)
