Oxford players ready to take next step in careers

An unselfish attitude, versatility and overall physical skill are just some of the reasons why Oxford’s Monquarious Gipson and Tre’ Carothers are extending their football careers today. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Gipson signed to play for Northeast Mississippi Community College Wednesday, while the 6-1, 175-pound Carothers is heading off to play at ICC.Both were recruited to play on defense, but OHS coach Johnny Hill thinks they will be good at a lot of spots, especially Gipson, who has served in several different roles during his varsity career. (February 3, 2011, Page 7)
