New Albany ends LHS Lady ‘Dores playoff run

A strong start to the second half for the Lafayette Lady Commodores basketball team wasn’t enough to overcome a sluggish first half Friday night, as the Lady ‘Dores were defeated by New Albany, 49-35, in semifinal action at the Class 4A North Half playoff tournament. After trailing by as many as 12 points (21-9) early in the second quarter, the Lady ‘Dores used a strong run in the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth, in which they constantly went into the middle of the paint, attacking New Albany’s six-footers Jazmine Spears and Micha Washington, to cut the Lady Bulldogs lead to within three at 34-31 after a pair of free throws by Shaq Isom with 7:40 left to play in the game. (February 21, 2011, Page 7)
