Hyland adds versatility to NWCC’s class

One of the most unsung members of Lafayette’s Class 4A state champion football team was senior offensive lineman Adam Hyland. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder not only helped lead the team’s outstanding offensive line at center, but he served another important role as the Commodores’ long snapper. Most fans may not realize the importance of a long snapper, and don’t know much about the player doing that job unless there is a miscue, but Hyland’s talents weren’t lost on Northwest Mississippi Community College coaches or LHS coach Anthony Hart. (February 3, 2011, Page 8)

You better hope he’s as good as the Lucas kid was the past 2 seasons. Lucas had no bad snaps on x-points,field goals and punts in 2 seasons. Buford the K/P was NJCAA honorable mention as a kicker in the 2010 season as was he first team All-State as a kicker and punter for 2 seasons. What that means is he needed good snaps on all kicks, punting or kicking. Lucas also played on the Kick-Off team too. No punt returns or kick returns for touchdowns in the 2010 season. That’s how any team has a chance to be sucessful and a champion to boot. Good luck Rangers in 2011.
