Complete efforts lead LHS to sweep

Two of the most complete games of the season led to two impressive wins over Byhalia for the Lafayette girls and boys basketball teams Tuesday night in the LHS gym.Lafayette’s girls gained a huge measure of revenge over the first-place Lady Indians thanks to a 68-30 win, while the Commodores overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half to post a 72-68 win in the nightcap.

The Lady Commodores’ win ended a seven-game winning streak for the Lady Indians, who were 10-0 in the region heading into Tuesday’s contest. LHS, now 19-5 overall and 7-3 in the Region 2-4A play, maintained its third-place seeding in next week’s region tournament with the win. The Lady Commodores jumped out to a 13-0 lead and firmly kept the gas on the pedal throughout, something coach Amy Sutton was glad to see heading into the final stretch of the regular season. (February 2, 2011, Page 7)
