Oxford’s planned run in the MHSAA’s Class 5A North Half tournament came to stop before it really got started Friday night at Jackson’s Lanier High School gym. After playing so well against Clarksdale in the opener of the 5A playoffs, the Lady Chargers were unable to duplicate that effort in a 69-57 setback to Callaway.The loss ended the Lady Chargers’ season and placed their record at 24-4 overall. Erika Sisk led the team with 21 points. Kristen Dickerson had 16 points, while Ivory Alexander chipped in 10 points.
OHS coach Shayne Linzy said his team was unable to match the intensity level of Callaway, who led by 10 points at the half and by 20 points at the end of the third quarter. (February 21, 2011, Page 6)
