A better Buckner translates to more Ws

Ole Miss’ success on the basketball court this past week happened for several different reasons including the improved play of sophomore forward Reginald Buckner.

Buckner’s shot-blocking ability was a great strength for the Memphis native even before he helped lead the Rebels to an upset win of then No. 10 Kentucky and Arkansas last week, but his ability to add points, rebounds and minutes to his resume ended up making a huge difference for the Rebels in those two wins.

Against Arkansas, Buckner blocked eight shots to tie former Ole Miss standout Ansu Sesay for the most in a single game as well as added 12 points, including a 3-point shot, and 11 rebounds to fall just short of his first triple-double. (February 8, 2011, Page 1B)
