Rebels get verbal commit from JC DT

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — A large contingent of football players making official visits to Oxford ultimately paid off for Ole Miss football coach Houston Nutt and his staff Sunday.Fulllerton College defensive tackle Uriah Grant (6-foot-1, 285-pounds) chose the Rebels over Washington before heading back to California to finish his last semester of junior college. Grant, who signed with Wake Forest out of high school in Florida, was hosted by returning defensive end Kentrell Lockett on his visit and said he had a great time bonding with the other official visitors as well as the players currently on the team.

Grant, who made 17.5 tackles for a loss last season at Fullerton, had great things to say about Nutt as a person as well as a coach.

“I wanted to play for a guy I could trust. He’s a great guy and a great person. I’ve never had a coach take us to his house and introduce us to his family before,” Grant said about Nutt, who took the recruits to his homestead Saturday afternoon.
