Live Blog: Ole Miss-MSU men’s basketball

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG — Here live at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum getting ready for tonight’s SEC matchup between the Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs. Rebels (12-4 overall, 0-1 in the SEC) and Bulldogs (8-7, 0-1) are both meeting for the first time and for the 242nd time overall.

1st Half

Rebels jump out to early 14-9 lead thanks to two 3-pointers each from Chris Warren and Zach Graham. MSU’s Renardo Sidney leading his team with seven points.  Warren now has the most 3-pointers made in school history.

Rebels up 19-15 at the 11:40 mark of the first half. Graham hit his 3rd 3-pointer just before the break. He leads the team with nine points, Warren has eight.

Ole Miss continues to lead MSU past the halfway mark of the first half. Warren has three 3-pointers and is leading the way with 11 points. Ravern Johnson has yet to score for MSU, while Bost, in his second game back, has eight points.

Rebels clinging to a four-point lead (27-23) with 3:06 left in the first half. Warren and Graham have paced OM’s scoring, while Bost just hit his first 3-pointer for MSU and is leading the scoring for the Bulldogs.

Rebels lead 34-32 at the half. MSU’s Bost hits a clutch 3-pointer as the horn sounds to make it a one possesion game heading into the final 20 minutes of play. Stats coming.

Bost leads MSU with 16 points. Graham has 13 to lead Ole Miss. Warren has nine points, Sidney has nine points for the Bulldogs. Ole Miss shot 34.4 percent (11-for-32) from the floor, while Bulldogs finished 42.9 percent (12-for-28).

Graham’s 13 points in the first half put him over 1,000 points in his career.

2nd Half

Rebels still maintaining slim lead, 41-40, at the 15:29 mark. Bost has hit another 3 in the early going as has Sidney for MSU. Warren hit another 3 for the Rebels, while OM’s Reginald Buckner scored the last basket for either team heading into the timeout.

Rebels lead 49-45 at 11:29 mark. Bost has 21 to lead MSU, Warren has 20. Sidney has scored 15 for Bulldogs, while Ravern Johnson has yet to score for Bulldogs.

Ole Miss holds a 58-54 lead with 6:12 left in the game. Bost and Sidney each have 21 to lead the Bulldogs, while Warren leads the Rebels with 25 points, one point shy of his season high.

Steadman Short’s putback puts the Rebels ahead 64-63 with 2:38 left. Sidney has 24 points for MSU, while Warren still leads OM in scoring with 25 points. Ole Miss is over the limit for fouls currently, while MSU is one foul away from the one-and-one.

MSU leads 65-64 with 1:02 left and the ball. Shot clock has 27 seconds on it.

Final: MSU 69-OM 64. Rebels fall to 0-2 in SEC for the first time since 2007. (January 13, 2011)
