A season of close losses finally turned in favor of the Oxford Chargers at just the right time Saturday against Callaway in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.
The Chargers advanced to Tuesday’s 5A North Half title match against Pearl by defeating Callaway 3-2 in penalty kicks. Oxford (13-4-1 overall) gained a huge measure of revenge with the win over Callaway, the only team to beat OHS last season, by playing as a team and learning from some of the tight games it had been involved in during the season.
