According to recruiting websites RebelGrove.com and OMSpirit.com, Reserve, La., cornerback Floyd Raven committed to the Ole Miss football Rebels over the weekend while in Oxford on his official visit.Raven, Ole Miss’ 22nd verbal commitment for the 2011 signing class, is considered a four-star prospect by Rivals.com and a three-star prospect by Scout.com. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Raven chose Ole Miss over Texas A&M and is considered the eighth-best cornerback in the nation and 123 player overall by Rivals.com.
Scout.com considers Raven, who has played the bulk of the last two seasons at linebacker for East Saint John High, a three-star player and the No. 31 cornerback in the country.
Should Raven’s commitment hold until Signing Day on Feb. 2, he would be just the second Louisiana native to sign with Houston Nutt’s Rebels in the last two years, joining quarterback Randall Mackey, who signed with Ole Miss last year and was redshirted this past season.
