WVHS coach John Sherman said North Panola tied the game on two free throws with 8.2 seconds.
He added that the victory was very rewarding for him and the team because it signified a toughness that had been absent the past few seasons.
“It was very rewarding the way we won it because of all the adversity we had to overcome in that final minute,” Sherman said. “It was also fun winning the tournament because of a four year absence of having. I was excited for the guys to be able to win the trophy. They were determined to win.”
Buckley led the Blue Devils with 16 points in the game that was tight throughout.
Fred McGee added 13 points. In the win over St. Aloyoisus, T.J. Sims led the Blue Devils with 12 points.
