Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy wanted to see where his team was early in the season by scheduling tough opponents. Just three days after the Rebels opened the year with a hard-fought win over Arkansas State, they made a statement Wednesday night with a 77-61 win over Murray State at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.
The victory was impressive for several reasons. Ole Miss (2-0 overall) continued to show its ability to guard teams and rebound well as a collective group while also shooting well from the free-throw line.
Wednesday’s win also came over a team that won 31 games last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, a place the Rebels want to be later this season. (November 18, 2010, Page 6)
