School Board OKs land deal

The Oxford School Board approved a $2.56 million land purchase contract this afternoon for 65 acres, or $39,500 per acre, with Thomas Webb Avent and Murray Avent for land in Oxford Commons, located at Highway 7 and Sisk Avenue. The land will be used as the site for the new high school. An additional 10 acres was donated by the Avents to the school district. An additional $913,500 will be paid by the district to extend Sisk Avenue 1,500 feet into the Oxford Commons development. See Thursday’s EAGLE for additional details on the land purchase. (November 17, 2010)
