BLOG: Green Wave end Oxford’s season

The West Point Green Wave eliminated the Oxford Chargers in the state quarterfinals Friday night 27-12. The stingy Green Wave defense kept the Chargers (9-4) in check, holding the offense to only 162 total yards. The Chargers game plan was to spread out the Green Wave (12-1) defense and attack them through the air. Though the idea seemed like a smart one, the Green Wave’s defensive line was able to dominate Oxford’s offensive line and as a result Charger quarterback Guy Cameron Billups was shut down most the night. He was held to just 121 yards passing and one touchdown.

The Green Wave ran the ball steadily throughout the night. Green Wave quarterback Justin Cox rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns on the night. On short down and distance the Green Waved relied on running back Jacoby Lee to push his way for a first down.

The loss to the Green Wave concludes the Chargers 2010 football season. (November 20, 2010)
