UPDATE: Man arrested for armed robbery

WATER VALLEY — Police authorities were still looking for a suspect who robbed the Regions Bank today at 12:30 p.m. According to information provided by Yalobusha County Sheriff Lance Humphreys, an armed white male wearing a hooded sweatshirt entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. He successfully left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank through the front door, running as he left the scene.UPDATE: At approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Christopher Eric Cooper, age 39 of Oxford, was arrested and charged with armed robbery. According to investigators, Cooper was arrested at his place of residence by the Oxford Police Department and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department without incident. Cooper allegedly stole under $1,000 during the heist. Cooper will be held at the Yalobusha County Jail overnight before being arraigned at the Water Valley Municipal Court on Wednesday. Cooper is being held without bond. (October 5, 2010)
