Chargers post win over Clarksdale

SPORTS EDITOR BLOG  — Led by the passing of senior quarterback Guy Cameron Billups, the Oxford Chargers were able to bounce back from a disappointing loss to New Hope last week and earn their first Region 1-5A win of the year Friday night.Billups passed for 229 yards and three touchdowns as the Chargers defeated the Clarksdale Wildcats 37-13 at Bobby Holcomb Field. The win improved OHS to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the region play heading into an important road contest at West Point.

Billups threw two TD passes to Stan Ivy on the night, while Ivy and DeShaun McNeal each had over 90 yards receiving in the win. Oxford’s defensive unit also had its moments in the win, including a goal-line stand late in the first half that kept the score 10-0 in favor of the Chargers. (October 2, 2010)
