The University of Mississippi Small Business Development Center will offer a free workshop for entrepreneurs, titled “First Steps to Starting A Business,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Physical Plant training room on the Oxford campus. The seminar is for those interested in starting their own business, but who are not sure where to begin. Speaker James Carden will outline the basic steps to start a business. Topics include: regulations such as licenses and permits; legal forms of business ownership; basic marketing concepts to help analyze the revenue potential; lending terminology; outline for a business plan and other resources to assist in starting a business.
