An offensive explosion, led by the running of Brandon Bolden, and a defensive unit that did much better against the run game ultimately propelled the Ole Miss Rebels to a much needed home win Saturday night.
The Rebels pounded Fresno State 55-38 in front of a crowd of 55,267 fans at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium by winning the battle up front on both sides of the ball. Ole Miss’ offense totaled a season-high 578 yards with 425 yards coming on the ground, while a beleaguered defense that struggled at key times last week against Vanderbilt, shut down the Bulldogs’ ground game to the tune of just 30 yards on 33 carries.
Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt was visibly pleased with the results and the manner in which his team won its first home game of the year. (September 27, 2010, Page 1B)
